Skallerup formerly served as a refugee camp for German refugees after the Second World War. One of the original forester´s cabins from the refugee camp has been preserved as a museum, where you can read all about the history of the holiday centre. One half of the museum has been preserved as the building looked while serving as a barracks for refugees in 1946/1947. The other half is set up to look like a holiday cottage as configured when the holiday centre was started up in 1949. Both parts offer photographs and explanatory texts in English and Danish.
